How Do I Import a Diagram From Gliffy Online For Use In Confluence?

Did you create a diagram in Gliffy Online and now you'd like to use it in Confluence? Please note this will only work in Gliffy for Confluence v6.2 and above.

Important note: At this time, diagrams created with Gliffy Online are not compatible with Gliffy for Confluence. For more information, please see this article.

Follow these quick and easy instructions to move a copy of the diagram to your Wiki:

  1. Open the Gliffy Diagram in Gliffy Online
  2. Click "File, Export as Gliffy"
  3. The diagram will download to your computer as a .gliffy file
  4. In Confluence, Edit the page you wish to add the diagram, click "Insert, Gliffy Diagram"
  5. Choose "Import" on the left side of the start screen
  6. Click "Choose file" and browse to the Diagram File you just downloaded, double-click on the file
  7. Click "Create" at the bottom
  8. Save your page in Confluence.

I was able to follow this steps 1 - 3. In step 4 I assume you mean "insert --> Gliffy Diagram", Step 5 I cannot find "import a file as a template"... I have:

    • Insert Existing Gliffy Diagram
    • Blank
    • Website/software design
    • venn diagram
    • org chart
    • swot analysis
    • flowchart
    • network diagram
    • software design/uml
    • floor plan
    • business process

If i choose "existing gliffy diagram" I can only choose from diagrams i already created.

    Hi,

The issue you are experiencing is because you are already in edit mode for the Confluence page. If you are simply viewing the page you can click Add -> Gliffy Diagram, you should be presented with a Gliffy editor. In the first window the editor shows you is below. I have circled the control for importing a file as a template in red.

Great! Thanks! it would be rather helpful if this existed in the edit mode dialog as well.

Opening Gliffy XML files as templates will be available from the Insert -> Gliffy Diagram options in the 4.1 release of the Gliffy Confluence Plugin, which should be released in the next week or three.

    Hi,

We no longer support GXML file format in exports, as it cannot support the new features in Gliffy Online. However, you should be able to export to Gliffy file format and import that into the Gliffy Confluence Plugin, assuming the plugin is relatively recent.

    Thank you,
